Toccoa police say no motive in shooting of teen

TOCCOA — Toccoa Police Department has released limited details of a shooting that seriously injured a teen in that city Thursday night.

Officers responded to a report of shots being fired in the area of Prather Bridge Road at 8:30 p.m. Thursday, according to a statement from Police Chief Jimmy Mize.

While responding to the incident at Prather Bridge Road and Rickman Street, dispatchers told officers a male had been shot.

“Officers blocked off the streets from Tugalo to Craig Street for several hours while the GBI Crime Scene Unit processed the scene,” Mize’s statement reads.

The victim was identified by Toccoa police as Spencer Reason, 17, of Toccoa. He was transported by ambulance to Stephens County Hospital, then was airlifted to a trauma center.

Witnesses were interviewed by investigators throughout the night.

“There is no motive at this time,” according to Mize’s statement.
