State GOP looks to day after run-off and everybody moving in the same direction

By Staff
ATLANTA - It has been a battle, without question, as Georgia Republican voters finally select on Tuesday who their candidate for governor will be in November.

The last two men standing, Casey Cagle and Bryan Kemp, have sparred - sometimes civilly, sometimes not - since finishing #1 and #2 respectively in the May 22 primary.

As most people know Cagle and Kemp work together on a fairly frequent basis, as Cagle is Lieutenant Governor and Kemp is Secretary of State.

So campaigning and equitably handling the affairs of the state can be a juggling act; but that all ends Tuesday evening when the votes are tallied and a nominee for the governor's office is determined for the Republican Party.

The next day both Cagle and Kemp will return to their respective duties and the business of the state will continue.

To help promote whatever healing needs to take place a Post Run-Off Unity Rally is being hosted on Thursday by the Georgia Republican Party.

U.S. Senator David Perdue, Governor Nathan Deal, Speaker David Ralston and other state leaders will also be in attendance.

The intent is that bygones will be bygones and the loser can endorse and support the run-off winner.  Fence mending will take place at the Hilton Atlanta Northeast at 7 p.m.
