Sterling Helm takes Modified Street victory at Hartwell

Sterling Helm started the night on the pole for the Modified Street feature at Georgia’s Hartwell Speedway on Saturday night.

He ended it with a victory lane celebration.

Helm, who hails from Gainesville, Georgia, earned the top starting position by winning the first heat race on the night for the division.

When the field took the green flag for the feature later in the evening, Helm jumped to the lead, and held off all comers to score the victory.

Royce Bray finished in second, with Daniel Doster in third, Kyle Gordon in fourth and Chase Burdette in fifth.

In other action, Bubba Russell powered to the lead on the drop of the green flag in the combined Limited and Crate Late Model feature, and went on to record the victory. Dustin Mincey finished in second, followed by Drew Collins in third, Ted Crunkleton in fourth and Nick Dietz in fifth.

Chris Cape was flagged the winner of the Hobby feature, but after he failed to pass post-race tech inspection, Shane Yarbrough inherited the win – one he gained by passing Alex Yarbrough for the runner-up spot on the final lap.

Shun Thomas came home in third, with Chris McKeehan in fourth and John Howard in fifth.

Evan Brown beat out Bradlee Jones and Rocky Jones to take the Stock V8 feature victory. Robert Crowe and Paul Byrum rounded out the top five.

Kevin Kelly held off J.J. Garrett to take the win in the Stock Four feature. Ryan Boles finished third, with Scott Hollars fourth and Jeremy Fassett fifth.

Kalen Holmes scored the win in the Front Wheel Drive feature. Joel Powell, Sr. finished in second, with North West in third, J.J. Sorrow in fourth and John Shaw in fifth.
