By AccessWDUN Staff

A 74-year-old Alpharetta man has been identified as the victim of a two-vehicle crash in Cumming this week.

Deputy First Class Andy Ives, Traffic Investigator with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, reported that Christopher Lyle died at the scene of the accident in the intersection of Marketplace Boulevard and Mary Alice Park Road.

The incident report said Lyle was driving his pick-up truck eastbound on Mary Alice Park Road, approaching the intersection with Marketplace Boulevard. As his vehicle entered the intersection, it was hit in the driver's side by another pickup truck, which was traveling southbound on Marketplace Boulevard. The driver of that vehicle was Michael Godfrey, 71, of Cumming.

The traffic signal for north and southbound Marketplace Boulevard was green, according to Ives' report, giving Godfrey the right of way. The traffic signal for east and westbound Mary Alice Park Road was red.

Godfrey suffered non-life threatening injuries in the crash and was taken to North Fulton Hospital for treatment.

The accident happened just after 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 3.

The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office, the Forsyth County Fire Department and the Cumming Police Department responded to the scene.
