Gainesville Police Department officers are investigating after a body was found in a vehicle outside the Budgetel Inn & Suites on Jesse Jewell Parkway.
Cpl. Drew Reed said the body was found Wednesday afternoon in a seat in the vehicle.
He said environmental conditions, specifically the heat, have progressed the decomposition of the body, making the investigation more difficult. While a specific age and sex of the person is unknown, Reed said the deceased is not a child.
"We'll have to await autopsy results before we can release further information," Reed said.
Reed said investigators were called to the scene just before 12:45 p.m.
