Nearly 40 people were evacuated from storm-damaged docks on Lake Lanier in the southern part of Hall County Sunday night.
"Thirty-five people were evacuated from two docks at Aqualand Marina due to the storm," Hall County Fire Services spokesman Zachary Brackett said. "The 'R' dock and 'S' dock have been closed until consultation can occur with Aqualand officials."
County Fire/EMS and Marine units assisted in the operation along with the Hall County Sheriff's Office and the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.
At least one of the docks separated from its moorings.
The incident happened as a line of severe thunderstorms moved through parts of northeast Georgia early in the evening.
