Hall County temporarily closes two beaches on Lake Lanier

By B.J. Williams
The beaches at two Hall County parks on Lake Lanier have been closed until bacteria levels in the water return to safe levels.

The heavy rains this week have significantly impacted water safety levels in the area, especially around River Forks Park and the Lake Lanier Olympic Rowing Venue, according to Hall County Parks & Leisure Director Mike Little.

"The safety of our citizens is always our number one priority,"  Little said in a press statement. "We will actively monitor the bacteria levels at each of these locations to ensure they are well within the state's standards before reopening these beaches."

While the beaches at the two parks are closed for now, the boat ramps at both parks will remain open.

At last report, the beach at Bolding Mill Park in Hall County remained closed because of high E. coli levels; Bolding Mill is operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
