Social Security Administration releases top Georgia baby names for 2017

In a couple of decades, get ready for wedding invitations from "William and Ava," the two most popular baby names for boys and girls, respectively, in the Georgia for 2017.

The Social Security Administration this week released the 100 most common baby names in 2017 for Georgia babies.

For girls, the top five most popular, in descending order, were Ava, Olivia, Emma, Isabella and Charlotte.

There were 667 baby girls named Ava in 2017, compared to 361 Charlottes, according to the administration's website.

On the boys' side, the five most popular names, again in descending order, were William, Noah, Mason, Elijah and James.

Boy names were a bit more top-heavy, with William being given to 685 boys, down to James, which was given to 509.

The Social Security Administration states on its website that the data is limited to births where the year of birth, sex and state of birth are on record, and the name is more than two characters long.

Similar spellings of the same name are not combined either. For example, there were 371 boys named Jackson, and an additional 231 Jaxon's and 131 Jaxson's.

Combined, the various Jackson's would have been well into first place, with 733 combined.
