White County superintendent headed to Floyd County

CLEVELAND — The White County School System is losing its top administrator.
 
According to information posted on the Floyd County School website Tuesday, the Floyd County Board of Education unanimously approved the appointment of Dr. Jeff Wilson as the new superintendent there.
 
Wilson has served the last seven years as superintendent of schools for the White County School System. He has worked in education for 30 years. 
 
“I think the Board’s ecstatic about the future of Floyd County Schools with Dr. Wilson,” said Chairman Chip Hood in a statement. “Based on his resume, his experience, and data, he’s highly qualified for the position. Dr. Wilson is very people-oriented and has a good understanding of charter schools. We are excited to get him here and get started.”
 
Wilson said he is excited about the new opportunity and thinks Floyd County Schools is a great school system.
 
Wilson was named one of three finalists for the job recently.
 
According to the school system, he officially will take office in Floyd County Schools on July 1.
 
The White County Board of Education has announced a called meeting Thursday morning, May 31, to discuss personnel and contractual matters.
