Man drowns in Lake Lanier Sunday night

A 19-year-old man drowned in Lake Lanier Sunday night, according to Hall County authorities. 

Hall County Fire Services was called to the 6700 block of Bass Circle in South Hall County around 9:20 p.m., according to Fire Capt. Zachary Brackett.

"Upon arrival, responders were advised of a 19-year-old male who had jumped off the second story of a dock and had not resurfaced," Brackett wrote in a press statement.

After about 60 minute of dive operations, Hall County Fire Services Marine Rescue recovered the body of the victim in about 19 feet of water.

The Hall County Sheriff's Office and the Georgia Department of Natural Resources assisted with the search.

The Hall County Sheriff's Office is in charge of the investigation.

The victim's name has not yet been released.
