Request for apartment and commercial development on Spout Springs Road tabled

By Caleb Hutchins Assistant News Director

A rezoning request that would pave the way for a more-than 350-unit apartment development on Spout Springs Road in south Hall County has been tabled for the second time by the Hall County Planning Commission.

The developers, Morningstar Investment Group, LLC, asked the planning commission to table the request until its April 2 meeting. The request is to rezone more than 43 acres of land on the east side of Spout Springs Road near Forrest Knoll Drive to exclusively Planned Residential Development.

The property is currently partially Planned Residential Development, but also features land zoned as Agricultural Residential-III. The main use for the land would be for apartments, but the request also asks for "limited commercial uses."

The planning commission voted unanimously to table the item after first removing it from its previous tabled status. No reason was given for the request to table the item.
