Gwinnett Sheriff's Office offers informational firearms class for educators

In response to many concerned parents and teachers, in light of recent events, the Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office is offering a firearms informational class geared toward educators.

Deputy Shannon Volkodav said  the class is given on a regular basis, but a special session is open to anyone who works in a school system. She says the classes covers weapon options and laws that apply to carrying a firearm.

"It also covers weapons choices, accessories and holsters." Volkodav said.

Volkodav adds what differs in the class is that it is geared toward educators and covers laws as they pertain to having a weapon on campus.

The class is free of charge and will be held March 24th at 12-Stone Church Hamilton Mill Campus.

You do not have to be an educator to benefit from classes offered by the Sheriff's office. Volkodav said many classes are offered and are free of charge. She advises keeping an eye on the sheriff Facebook page for information on upcoming classes.
