JEFFERSON — Daniel Parker sank the game-winning basket with 18 seconds remaining and then ripped down the sealing rebound to lift the Jefferson boys basketball team to a 64-62 win over Stephens County and into the Region 8-AAAA championship game.
Parker scored 9 points to help the Dragons to a 8-AAAA semifinal victory on their home court.
Jefferson will face St. Pius at 8:30 p.m. Friday in Jefferson for the region title.
Jasper Gibson led the Dragons with 19 points on Thursday, while Donsha Gaither added 16 in the win.

The Lady Dragons advanced to the Region 8-AAAA title game courtesy a victory over St. Pius in the semifinals on Thursday in Jefferson.
Mariah Starks scored 15 points to pace the Lady Dragons, while Akera Benton added 14 points and McKenzie Ulmer 10 pts.
Jefferson will take on Madison County at 7 p.m. Friday for the 8-AAAA championship in Jefferson.
