Lake Lanier residents and stakeholders will have four opportunities this month to get an in-person update on the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Recreation Capacity Study and Master Plan Update for Lake Lanier.
The Corps started the study last October, "to review current and future recreational needs and capacity at Lake Sidney Lanier," officials stated in a Corps' news release.
The meetings, one each in Buford, Cumming, Dawsonville and Gainesville, will include experts from the Corps to brief the public on the goals and purpose of the study. Each meeting will include the same information.
The recreation study is a tool the Corps will use to update Lanier's master plan.
"The Master Plan is a comprehensive land and recreational management tool that guides the stewardship of natural and cultural resources and the provision of outdoor recreation facilities and opportunities at the project," according to the release.
Corps' officials are expected to schedule more meetings to present the recreation report's findings when it is complete.
The updated final master plan is expected to be released by the end of next year.
