GAINESVILLE — Katie Jo Gentry is expected to become Gainesville High’s new softball coach pending approval by the Gainesville Board of Education.
Gentry spent the 2017 season as the head softball coach at Stephens County where she led the Lady Indians to a 25-10 record and berth in the Class AAAA state championship series, where they lost to Northside.
Prior to being head coach at Stephens, Gentry was an assistant for two years in the Lady Indians program.
The Gainesville softball team, under the guidance of David Hawkins, went 8-19 in 2017.
The board votes Feb. 5 and Gentry's approval is part of the agenda according to school officials.
