Forsyth County Town Hall meeting draws a large crowd

Crowds of people filled the commissioner's meeting room in Forsyth County for a town hall meeting about the proposed water reclamation plant planned for the northeast part of the county.

District 4 Commissioner Cindy Jones Mills asked the residents to be open-minded and said she hopes the cititzens and commissioners can learn from one another. She said, "I know this is a very emotional topic. I know that a lot of you are very angry and upset. I want to ask you to please try to put that aside for just a little bit and listen to the presentation."

Residents expressed frustration for not being a part of the decision to purchase the 99 acre site at the end of Millwood Road and other concerns.

Derek Dunning lives near the site and he said, "Disclosure. If you're concerned about being a good neighbor, disclosure would've included us." The crowd cheered in support of his words and he continued saying, "You're not buying a parcel of land to put a park in."

The meeting lasted over two hours and residents expressed concerns over noise, smell, and traffic surrounding the site.

The board told the crowd they would continue to do their due diligence.
