Hall sheriff takes seat on state board

By Ken Stanford Contributing Editor

Hall County Sheriff Gerald Couch was sworn in last week to a seat on the state Criminal Case Data Exchange Board.  Couch had been recently appointed to the position by Gov. Nathan Deal.

The Board is a subcommittee of the Georgia Criminal Justice Coordinating Council.

It is among the latest in Gov. Deal’s criminal justice reform efforts during his time in office and is part of a bill that passed during the 2018 Georgia legislative session.

“Senate Bill 407 established the Criminal Case Data Exchange Board under the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council for the purpose of promulgating rules for criminal e-Filing and overseeing statewide implementation of the Criminal Justice e-Filing project,” according to CJCC.

In addition to Couch, Gov. Deal also named Douglas County Chief Judge David Emerson and Forsyth County Clerk of Court Greg Allen to the Board.
