Travis Pennington made a clean Home State sweep in the FASTRAK Racing Series season finale over the weekend.
Pennington, from Stapleton, Georgia, raced to the victory on both Friday and Saturday nights at the 3/8-mile dirt Screven Motorsports Complex in Sylvania, Georgia.
Meanwhile, Matthew Nance, of Ronda, North Carolina wrapped up the $10,000 series championship. Nance’s used consistency throughout the season to score the title, with ten top 5 finishes and 14 top tens in 16 events.
“It’s been a great season,” said Nance. “We have worked hard all season long to win the FASTRAK Championship. We had a lot of great runs along the way.”
Nance continued his consistency at Screven Motorsports Park on Championship Weekend, finishing fourth on Friday night and scoring a runner-up finish in the season finale.
“We knew that if we consistently finished in the top-five all season long we’d be able to have a chance at the title,” Nance said. “It shows that it takes a strong season to win the FASTRAK Championship. Without my family and sponsors none of this would be possible.”
On Friday night, Pennington battled over the closing nine laps with Corey Almond for the lead. The lead duo would battle door-to-door over the closing laps, with Pennington finally pulling away to 1.619 second advantage when he drove under the checkered flag.
Almond held on to finish in second, with Jordy Nipper in third, Nance in fourth and Trent Ivey in fifth.
On Saturday night, Pennington made his way around leader Dillon Brown for the top spot, and went on to record his fourth series win of the season.
Nance finished in second, with Carson Ferguson, Nipper and Matt Long rounding out the top five.
