Lady Lions to face Lynchburg in NCAA Tournament

DEMOREST — The Piedmont women's soccer team will play the University of Lynchburg on Saturday in the opening round of the NCAA women's soccer tournament.

Game-time is set for 1 p.m. at Shellenberger Field in Lynchburg, Va.

Lynchburg will enter the game as the 16/19 ranked team in the country according to D3Soccer.com and the United Soccer Coaches, respectively. The Hornets also rank fourth in the South Atlantic Region according the United Soccer Coaches.

"We've talked about this before about this being the standard of excellence here at Piedmont," head coach Timmy McCormack said. "It's a great thing for us to get back to the national tournament.

"Having the opportunity to play Lynchburg is a great opportunity for us. They are a constant NCAA tournament team and are very well coached. We're excited to matchup against them."
