No. 3 Rabun County routs Social Circle

SOCIAL CIRCLE — Rabun County continued to roll through Region 8-2A with a 63-7 shellacking of Social Circle Friday night on the road.

With the win the the Class 2A third-ranked Wildcats (8-0, 4-0 Region 8-2A) also clinched a playoff spot in Region 8-2A. They will play host to winless Oglethorpe County (0-8, 0-4) next week before playing host to Union County on Nov. 2 for the region title.

Rabun County used its patented early game blitz scoring 28 points in each of the first and second quarters to race out to a 56-0 halftime lead.

Freshman quarterback Gunner Stockton threw a pair of first quarter touchdown passes, including a 30-yard strike to Braxton Hicks, while Brison Beck caught a TD pass and ran for another in the first quarter.  A.J. Wheeler added a 30-yard interception return for a touchdown as well.

In the second quarter, Stockton tossed two more TD passes, one to Dawson Latham of 25-yards and a second to Hicks, this one 47 yards. Beck also punched in two more rushing touchdowns, his third score on a 47-yard sprint.

Social Circle's only score came with just over four minutes in the game after Rabun County had built a 63-0 lead.

Stockton finished 12 of 14 for 326 yards and 4 TD passes. Beck had 90 yards on just 5 carries while Hicks had 5 receptions for 127 yards.

The Wildcats defense again was nearly impenetrable yielding just 96 total yards and forcing two turnovers.
