Deputies: Body found in Lake Lanier is woman who went missing in Hall County

The body found October 12th along the shores of Lake Lanier in Forsyth County has been confirmed as that of an Atlanta woman reported missing, that according to Hall County officials.

Hall County Sheriff's Office Lt. Scott ware said, "The body was taken, and as I understand, from dental records has been confirmed...is Madeline Sinagra."

Sinagra, 31, of Atlanta was reported missing July 22 when she jumped from a sailboat to swim in the lake.  Strong winds carried the boat away from Sinagra, who eventually drowned.

In the three months since her disappearance her body moved a considerable distance according to Ware. "Approximately a mile from where Ms. Sinagra had gone in."

A man on the boat reported at the time of Sinagra's disappearance that Sinagra got tired, and he was unable to get her a life preserver. The man jumped into the water himself, but was unable to find her.

Divers were intially called to search an area between Port Royale and Old Federal Park.

Sinagra's body has been sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab for an autopsy.

Ware said fishermen discovered the body .Foul play is not suspected.
