Georgia’s parole board is inviting crime victims to speak with parole staff at day-long event in Gainesville later this month.

The State Board of Pardons and Paroles victims visitors’ day is scheduled to be held Tuesday, Oct. 23 at Lakewood Baptist Church in Gainesville.

Crime victims will be able to meet with board members and other parole staff to talk about the impact of the crime and the parole status of the person who committed the crime.

Information from the parole board indicates victims will be able to:

  • Receive current information on the offender, including maximum release date, parole date, and where the inmate is incarcerated
  • Register to receive future notifications of the offender’s status
  • Submit Victim Impact Statements
  • Receive Victim Services Information
  • Learn how to navigate the websites of the Department of Corrections, the State Board of Pardons and Paroles, and the Department of Community Supervision

An opening ceremony will be held at the church at 9 a.m.

Individual meetings will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Crime victims are asked to make an appointment with the Georgia Office of Victims Services by Monday, Oct. 22. The phone number is 404-651-5717

The parole board says this will be the 30th time the board has hosted such an event and the first time in Hall County.
