Investigators are trying to determine the identity of a body that washed ashore in northeast Forsyth County Friday afternoon.
According to Forsyth County Sheriff's Deputy First Class Jennifer Belafi, boaters spotted the corpse near the shores of Bethel Park off of Bethel Road.
Deputies arrived and found a female in an advanced state of decomposition and with the help of the fire department, they were able to remove the body from Lake Lanier.
Emergency responders turned the body over to Forsyth County Coroner Lauren McDonald and it was transported to the GBI lab for autopsy and identification.
