HABERSHAM COUNTY – A residential shooting Sunday evening in Habersham County leaves two people dead.
Habersham County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched around 6 p.m. to reports of a shooting at a home with a Cornelia mailing address but actually closer to Alto, that according to Sheriff’s Office spokesman Lt. Matthew Wurtz.
“It was in the south end of the county, a lot closer to Alto than it would be to Cornelia,” Wurtz explained.
Wurtz was limited in the information he could share but did say, “It wasn’t a home invasion; it does appear that it is possibly domestic related. The deputies were actually dispatched to a shooting at the residence.”
“By the time the deputies got there, there was no shooting…our deputies were not involved,” Wurtz added.
Wurtz said the Georgia Bureau of Investigation had been called in and would be handling the investigation. No further information is available at this time.
