Two men charged in baseball bat attack on man in North Hall area

By B.J. Williams

Two Hall County men remain in jail in connection with a Monday evening attack on a man in the north end of Hall County.

Lt. Scott Ware with the Hall County Sheriff's Office said investigators arrested on suspect earlier in the week and a second Thursday.

"The incident began at a location on Oliver Road when suspects identified as Jeffery Lee Murphy, 33, and Robert Edward Tuttle, 32, of Hall County confronted the victim in this case," Ware said in a published press statement. "Murphy was armed with a wooden baseball bat and Tuttle with a pair of brass knuckles. Both men chased the victim on foot to a location nearby on C. Loggins Road, where they beat him."

Ware said the victim, who was not named, received treatment for his injuries at the hospital; he has since been released.

Murphy and Tuttle were both charged with aggravated assault, according to Ware. Tuttle also had a Superior Court probation warrant for a violation of Georgia’s controlled substances act (VGCSA).

Both suspects remained in the Hall County Jail with no bond at last report.

Ware said the Hall County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate.
