Gainesville residents dropped dollars, dimes and other currency in firefighter's boots earlier this week as part of the annual fundraiser Give Burns the Boot.
The fundraiser is organized by the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation. Gainesville firefighters collect money in boots during the drive from September 21 through the 23.
The Gainesville Fire Department raised over $19,000 for the foundation.
That money helps provide fire safety and education, support medical facilities and assist burn survivors.
Hall County firefighters will also be collecting money for the fundraiser on October 13, 20 and 27.
