The Gainesville City School System will celebrate the 50th Birthday of The Rock on Sunday, October 22.
In the meantime, the system is inviting the public to send photos of The Rock, a fixture on Pearl Nix Parkway near Gainesville High School, taken over the past half-century to [email protected] .
The Rock, over the years, has been a gathering place for pep rallies and has an untold number of coats of paint on it - commemorating birthdays, outstanding achievements by students and Gainesville High organizations, notable events in the lives of members of the community, etc.
The time of the anniversary celebration will be announced at a later date.
