Gainesville lifts some regulations of debris removal

GAINESVILLE - The City of Gainesville is asking for your patience during the debris removal period and in return is lifting a few restrictions.

For the next month, the city is easing up on regulations regarding debris. First, there is not limit on the volume of tree cuttings you can place curbside, however pieces must be five feet or less long and weigh less than 50 pounds. Second, there is not fee for high volume and if you hire a tree service to clean up the yard, they can use your curb for disposal.

In return the city asks that you be patient and realize it is going to take a few weeks for the city to catch up with all the debris that needs removed.

An excerpt from the City of Gainesville official release is below.

Downed trees must be cut into segments five feet or less in length and weigh less than 50 pounds.
Limbs and cuttings must not be mixed with other debris such as roofing tiles, fence materials, or other items damaged during the storm. Residents are reminded that storm debris should be placed BEHIND the curb and should not be placed on fire hydrants or other yard plantings.

Due to volume, all debris may not be removed from a residence at one time.  Residents are encouraged to be patient during this process.  The removal is expected to take several weeks.
