Red Elephants tripped by Clarke Central on the road

ATHENS — Gainesville slumped to its second straight loss on Friday, as Clarke Central ran away with a 42-14 victory in Athens.

The Red Elephants (1-2) managed 227 total yards without starting quarterback Tre Luttrell, who missed the game through injury, including 114 yards rushing. But the Gladiators (2-1) put up 384 total yards, including 245 yards on the ground.

Chandler Watson, who got the start at signal caller for Gainesville, rushed for 26 yards and completed 13 of 25 yards for 113 yards and a touchdown.

Montavious Tabor led the Red Elephants in rushing with 12 carries for 81 yards and two receptions for 20 yards.

Gainesville faces two bye weeks in a row before playing host to Jefferson on Sept. 22.
