Softball roundup: East Hall takes early battle for first in 7-AAA; Stephens suffers first loss

GAINESVILLE — In a battle for first place in Region 7-AAA, Macy Banks pitched a six-hit shutout to lead East Hall to a 2-0 victory over North Hall on Tuesday.

North Hall's Kendyl Chase kept pace scattering six hits as well and fanning six while allowing just two runs.

East Hall (8-5, 5-0 Region 7-AAA) grabbed the lead in the second on a one-out RBI single by Peyton Turner

North Hall (5-6, 3-1) collected six hits with Kailee Dyer and Kadie Sullens each with multiple hits.

Stephens County saw its eight-game win streak to open the season come to an end.

The Lady Indians fell 5-0 to Madison County in Region 8-AAAA action at home.

Madison County (8-2, 2-1 Region 8-AAAA) took a 1-0 lead in the third courtesy a Lady Indians error. The Lady Red Raiders blew the game open with four runs in the fourth sparked by another Stephens County error.

Bailey Dobbs was the lone bright spot for the Lady Indians (8-1, 1-1) collecting two hits.
Madison County jumped into second place with the win, one-half game behind Jefferson. Stephens County dropped into a three-way tie for third with Oconee County and North Oconee.

Stephens County travels to St. Pius on Thursday in another key region battle.
