By AccessWDUN staff

CUMMING — While so many other teams were putting up offensive explosions on Friday, the Dawson County football program got it done the old fashioned way: defense and special teams.

Payton Allen kick three field goals and the Tigers held Forsyth Central scoreless to give Dawson County a season-opening, 9-0 victory in Cumming.

Allen banged through kicks of 29 and 36 yards in the second quarter and added another 22-yard effort in the third quarter to make up all the game's scoring.

Tigers (1-0) quarterback Coey Watson rushed 21 times for 187 yards and completed 4 of 11 passes for 28 yards with an interception. Sevaughn Clark added 21 carries for 103 yards, while Shawn Thomas also managed 37 yards on the ground.

Dawson County will play host to Chattooga next week.
