The Forsyth County Commission has adopted a millage rate of 8.036 for fiscal year 2018, unchanged from the previous year, according to the county.
Commissioners adopted the rate at their Thursday meeting.
"The county’s millage rate of 8.036 is one of the lowest millage rates among metro Atlanta counties." Director, Forsyth County Department of Communications Jodi Gardner wrote in a media release.
Despite the number remaining the same, the rate is 3.85 percent higher than the rollback, or revenue neutral, millage rate. The rate will reflect a tax increase for some property owners, depending on assessed value.
The county's digest has grown by 7.66 percent, 3.67 percent from new construction and 3.99 percent from increased values in reassessments, officials said before 3 public hearings on the proposed rate.
"Forsyth County staff, Finance Committee and Board of Commissioners will continue preparing the county’s proposed 2018 budget, which is slated for adoption in November," Gardner said.
