ATLANTA — Atlanta United will play Miami FC at Riccardo Silva Stadium at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 28 in the Round of 16 for the 2017 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, U.S. Soccer announced today. In a full release of the final bracket, Atlanta United was drawn into the South Region alongside Miami FC, Chicago Fire and FC Cincinnati.
The winner of Atlanta United-Miami FC match will host the winner of Chicago Fire-FC Cincinnati. If Atlanta were to advance, they would host the quarterfinal match at Kennesaw State University’s Fifth Third Bank Stadium. Atlanta United advanced to the Round of 16 by defeating Charleston Battery 3-2 on Wednesday night in front of 9,458 fans at Fifth Third Bank Stadium. After a 2-hour, 42-minute delay due to inclement weather, Atlanta prevailed with goals from Kevin Kratz, Josef Martinez and Brandon Vazquez to move into the Round of 16 in the 2017 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
