New Gainesville CVB Director moves over from Main Street position

The City of Gainesville's new Convention and Visitors' Bureau Director is very familiar with the city.

Regina Dyer has worked for the past five years as the Gainesville Main Street Manager.  City Manager Bryan Lackey called Dyer an obvious choice for the CVB job.

"Regina has done a tremendous job with downtown and the square," Lackey said in a news release.  "During her tenure, private investment has topped $5 million, more than 400 jobs have been created, and an estimated 500,000 people have attended more than 300 events on the square."

Dyer received her Georgia Downtown Development Professional certification in 2015.  She graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1992 with a B.A. in Journalism and Marketing.

"Gainesville's attractions and hoteliers have created a welcoming environment for the business and leisure traveler. We are perfectly situated on Lake Lanier and the Northeast Georgia Mountains region is the second most visited region in the State of Georgia," Dyer said in the media release.

Dyer currently serves on the Georgia Downtown Association Board of Directors.  She replaces Lee McMichael who had held the position for less than a year.  Deb Gravitt, Communications and Tourism Assistant for the city, served as interim.

City officials now will look to hire a new Main Street Manager.
