A prostitution sting at a hotel in south Hall County netted 13 arrests recently. Authorities from several agencies, including the Hall County Multi Agency Narcotics Squad, made the busts at a location on Friendship Road on Friday.
While authorities are on the lookout for human trafficking, MANS Lt. Don Scalia said an arrest for pimping in this case didn't turn out to be that.
"They (pimping and prostitution suspect) both indicated they were boyfriend/girlfriend," Scalia said.
Charges among the arrests ranged from pimping, to prostitution to pandering. Several of the suspects also face drug charges.
Scalia said the reaction from the suspects generally is complete surprise.
"I think all 13 cases you could go ahead and characterize as shock. They were not expecting that."
Because MANS has conducted similar operations in the past, Scalia said the planning time has decreased considerably. The planning usually begins about a week in advance of the operation, which usually happens over one day.
"We utilize a number of different resources, it's the phone and also of course the Internet. That's the two main ways that we do it right now," Scalia said.
Other agencies involved in Friday's effort included the Hall County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division, Department of Community Supervision, Georgia National Guard Counterdrug Task Force and the Hall County Sheriff's Office Reserve Unit.
No further arrests are charges are expected in the latest operation, according to Scalia.
