Suwanee moves ahead with agreement for sidewalks between George Pierce Park, neighborhood

Suwanee city council members are moving ahead with an inter-governmental agreement with Gwinnett County for a plan that will bring a sidewalk connection between George Pierce Park and the Ruby Forest neighborhood.

Officials have not hammered out an exact timeline for the work, according to Marty Allen, city manager, but the design plan has been completed for the roughly 500-800 foot sidewalk, which will connect the back portion of the neighborhood to the park.

"We just need to get approval from (Gwinnett County) within the next couple of months," said Allen.

The city will get all the agreements in place before awarding a contract for the work.

The construction bid will be combined with planned sidewalk work along Stonecypher Road, according to city documents.

City council will give the inter-governmental agreement a final vote at its next voting session May 23.
