No injuries were reported, but a Barrow County home — and two vehicles at the home — suffered extensive damage Wednesday evening in a fire.
“Upon arrival to the single-story dwelling, crews found heavy smoke and fire coming from the garage. Two vehicles, one inside the garage and one in the driveway, were also on fire. All occupants were out of the house and accounted for,” said Steve Rose, assistant public information officer with Barrow County Emergency Services.
The home is located on Hawk Creek Trail in Winder, and the fire broke out around 8:30 p.m.
"The home suffered extensive fire damage to the garage, a bonus room above the garage, and the roof. The rest of the house experienced heavy smoke and water damage," said Rose.
Two nearby homes also suffered minor damage from the heat, Rose said in a statement.
The American Red Cross is assisting the family of four that was displaced.
