Rain has postponed the running of today’s Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway to Monday afternoon.
NASCAR officials made the announcement shortly after noon Sunday afternoon. The race is scheduled to go green at 1 pm Monday.
Rain moved into the Bristol, Tennessee area this morning prior to pre-race ceremonies. Forecasters had predicted showers throughout the day, leading race officials to postpone the event.
NASCAR had seen more than one issue with showers this weekend. Friday's MENCS qualifying was rained out on Friday, while Saturday's NASCAR Xfinity Series had a mid-race delay due to rain.
Once the race goes green Monday afternoon, Kyle Larson will bring the field down to the start, with Dawsonville's Chase Elliott on the outside of the front row. Martin Truex, Jr. will start from the third position, with Brad Keselowski fourth and his teammate, Joey Logano, in fifth.
Ryan Blaney, Kyle Busch, Jamie McMurray, Clint Bowyer and Kevin Harvick round out the top ten starters.
WDUN will have live PRN Radio coverage of Monday's race at 12:30 pm on 102.9 FM.
