Hall County looks to replace East Hall Community Center air conditioning

By Caleb Hutchins Assistant News Director

GAINESVILLE -- The Hall County government is looking to replace some heating and air systems at the East Hall Community Center that county officials say are "on their last leg."

Officials presented the issue to the county commission at its Thursday evening meeting, saying the units, which have been in place for 10 years, will cost just over $189,000 to replace. They said that the units' positioning, with the units placed just inches apart for aesthetic reasons, has caused them to wear down more quickly than a usual system.

Commission Vice Chairman Scott Gibbs said he hopes a new system will be more geared towards efficiency.

"While it's nice to look pretty, if it's costly we've got to fix the problem," Gibbs said.

County officials said they believe they can make the new system more efficient while keeping it pleasing to the eyes.

The money will come from SPLOST VII and the commission approved the replacements unanimously.
