HELEN — The Truett McConnell women's golf team beat the 18-hole team scoring record Tuesday in the second round of the 2017 Appalachian Athletic Conference Spring Women's Championship contested at Innsbruck Golf Club this week. Tuesday saw players complete a rain and darkness shortened first round and a full second round of play.

Nationally-ranked No. 14 SCAD Atlanta won the tournament while No. 21 Milligan finished in second. Point, Tennessee Wesleyan and (RV) St. Andrews rounded out the top five. Truett McConnell finished one stroke behind St. Andrews and two strokes behind Tennessee Wesleyan in a program-highest sixth place. The tournament marks the highest TMU has ever placed in an AAC event and gives the Bears their best regular season finish, also sixth place.

The Bears shot a 333 in the second round of play, beating the former record of 335. The 36-hole record of 670 was tied after a first round score of 337.

Leading the way for TMU was Hannah Wall in 17th place. Kayla Chapman and Ashley Blackburn finished in a tie for 20th.

The Bears will next take the course at the AAC Championships in two weeks at Callaway Gardens.
