Officials: Sugar Hill's 'E Center' and Sugar Loop Greenway are on schedule

The "E Center" (formerly known as the EpiCenter) and Sugar Loop Greenway projects in Sugar Hill are coming along as scheduled, according to city officials.

The E Center, which will include a gymnasium, 387-seat performing arts theater and 43-thousand square feet of office, retail and restaurant space, is expected to enhance the area around The Bowl, the city's concert venue.

"The project is coming out of the ground. Steel for the theater has been erected," said Paul Radford, city manager.

"It's on schedule, and it's going to be a pretty impressive project when it's all said and done."

The E Center is slated for completion in mid-2018, according to city documents.

The Sugar Loop Greenway, meantime, should be well underway in the near future; city leaders are hoping to complete the first few miles of the trail this year.

"We're in the process of acquiring right-of-way. We've contacted the land owners," said Radford.

When the trail is ultimately finished, it will include 16.5 miles of multi-use trails on a loop roughly bisected by Ga. 20. (See photo)

The first three legs are slated for completion in 2017, which will run from the downtown area, down Level Creek road towards the new E.E. Robinson Park on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard.
