TOCCOA, Ga. - Benji Hicks sped to the victory on Saturday night in the 2017 season opener for the FASTRAK Pro Late Model Series South East Region at Georgia’s Toccoa Raceway.
Hicks was the Group 1 Fast Qualifier with a time of 13.090 seconds, the first ten-lap Heat Race winner, and led all 40 laps of the main event to get the sweep and take home the $2,000 top prize.
The Mt. Airy, North Carolina driver had to hold off the defending series champion Cla Knight to post the win. Knight had to settle for second , with Colby Cannon in third, Colbert, Georgia’s Kenny Collins in fourth and Forrest Trent in fifth.
Jensen Ford, Tyler Arrington, Ron Parker Frankie Beard and Matthew Nance rounded out the top ten.
The next event for the FASTRAK SE Region will be a 40-lap $3,000-to-win National Event at Virginia Motor Speedway in Jamaica, Virginia on Saturday, April 8.
