Identities in possible murder-suicide investigation confirmed

GAINESVILLE - Nearly a week ago two people were found deceased at a home in Gainesville. Now the identities of the two individuals has been confirmed.

Officials with the Hall County Coroner and Medical Examiner's office have confirmed that 75-year-old Larry McGinness and his wife, 69-year-old Shelly McGinness, were found deceased at their Dixon Circle home on March 21st.

The longer-than-usual time that it has taken to release the identities is due in part to the fact that authorities suspect the double fatality at the Gainesville home might be a murder-suicide.

According to officials, a double autopsy was ordered shortly after the discovery of the couple. While the GBI assisted in processing the initial crime scene, local authorities are handling the subsequent investigation.
