Portions of Big Creek Greenway closed due to storm damage

Two portions of the Big Creek Greenway in Forsyth County are closed due to storm damage that happened Tuesday night.

The heaviest damage (see photo) happened on the boardwalk between mile markers 6.1 and 6.2, just south of the Bethelview Road Trailhead, according to a news release issued Wednesday afternoon.

There is no timetable for the re-opening of that portion of trail, though the Bethelview Trailhead will remain open, allowing users to travel north on the greenway toward Kelly Mill Road.

Less severe damage occurred at the Fowler Park Trailhead, which does not impact the greenway itself.

That trailhead is expected to re-open by Saturday.
