A 12-year-old girl who was missing from North Carolina is in protective custody after being found near Commerce Saturday morning.
The Henderson County Sheriff's Office said in a social media post that Zoee Bishop-Cantrell was found by Jackson County Sheriff's Deputies along U.S. Highway 441.
According to the post, Bishop-Cantrell was riding with her mother, Selena Bishop, when they ran out of gas. Bishop has been arrested on felony child abduction charges.
Bishop-Cantrell is in protective custody and is reportedly awaiting transportation back to North Carolina.
