Sunday night fire damages Barrow County home

No injuries were reported, but a fire caused extensive damage to a Barrow County home Sunday night.

A passerby saw flames and called 911 to report the fire on Rat Kinney Road in Statham, according to Barrow County EMS Cpt. Scott Dakin.

"The caller advised they were passing by and saw the fire and were unsure if anyone was home at the time of the fire," said Dakin.

"Firefighters were dispatched to the scene and found heavy fire on one side of the single story home with heavy black smoke flowing from the other side of the home."

Firefighters simultaneously checked for victims and battled the flames.

No people were found, and they were able to keep the fire from spreading, according to Dakin.

Jackson EMC was called to the scene as well, since a live power line was burned off the home and laying on the ground.

Two adults were displaced from the fire
