Hall County firefighters were called to the scene of a house fire in the Harbor Point subdivision in the northwest end of the county early Friday morning.
Fire Capt. Zach Brackett said a neighbor called 911 just after 4 a.m. to report the fire in the 3800 block of Silver Brook Lane. He said when the first crews arrived, they realized they would need back-up and called for other units.
Brackett said the man who lived in the house was able to escape safely.
While a strong storm was moving through the area at the time, Brackett said investigators do not know yet if lightning is to blame for starting the fire.
Investigators will be working at the scene to determine a cause.
