FORT VALLEY — The Truett McConnell softball team swept a doubleheader with Fort Valley State, winning both games in five innings, 19-0 and 29-0.
The Bears had strong performances at the plate by Kaitlynn Hay (4-6 with nine runs scored), Haley Taylor (4-8 with four RBI and five runs scored) and Olivia Darley (3-8 with nine RBI and six runs scored) in the doubleheader. Carson Hagin and Peyton Henderson combined to get the shutout in game one, while Taylor Nix pitched a two-hit complete game shutout in game two.
The Bears will next take on Hiwassee on Monday in Cleveland. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
