By AccessWDUN

DAHLONEGA — Fans got their money's worth in Friday afternoon's matinee between the 27th-ranked University of North Georgia baseball team and No. 9 Quincy, as the Nighthawks hit four home runs in a 12-6 win over Quincy. UNG advances to 8-3 on the season with the win, the third over a top 10 opponent this year.

The first seven runs of the game were all scored by way of the long ball. Quincy got on the board in the top of the first with a solo shot from Jake Walters. Michael Bell answered for the Nighthawks with his first of two homeruns on the day in the second, a two-run blast to center to put UNG up for the first time on the day. The Hawks would go back up in the third though as Walters hit a grand slam to right center giving QU a 5-2 lead.

The Nighthawks scored a run in the third on a balk, another in the fourth on a solo homer from Steven Tomlinson, and a two-run dinger from Michael Gauge in the fifth put UNG back up, 6-5.

Quincy answered by scratching across a run in the top of the sixth but North Georgia would go on to hang a six spot in the bottom frame of the inning, helped out by a grand slam to left center by Bell that gave the game it's final score of 12-6.
