Suspects arrested following brief manhunt in Oakwood Thursday

Hall County authorities say the flurry of law enforcement activity in Oakwood Thursday afternoon was because two men fled on foot following a traffic stop on Frontage Road.

Joseph Tyrone Stafford, 30, and Ronald Kevin Henson, 33, allegedly led authorities on a foot chase.

"He (Henson) actually ran across the interstate (I-985). Fortunately he was not struck by any vehicles, didn't cause any accidents," Hall County Sheriff's Deputy Stephen Wilbanks said.

Deputies and Oakwood Police set up a perimeter and apprehended Stafford shortly after the roughly 12:56 p.m. stop.  A sheriff's office K9 team caught Henson a short time after that, according to Wilbanks.

"Henson was treated at Northeast Georgia Medical Center for a minor K9 bite injury and released," WiIbanks wrote in a news release.

Both men face a number of drug possession charges, including methamphetamine, misdemeanor marijuana, Alprazolam (Xanax) and Methylphenidate (Ritalin).  Each man is also charged with misdemeanor obstruction of an officer and possession of drug objects.

Henson was additionally charged with driving on a suspended license.  Stafford was wanted on outstanding warrants originating out of Barrow County.

Both men remained in the Hall County Jail Friday afternoon.
